£28m revamp for M62

The Highways Agency has started a safety improvement scheme on the M62 between Brighouse and Tingley.

The £27.9m project has been brought forward for delivery as part of the Department for Transport’s £700m fiscal stimulus package. The work will see the steel central reservation barrier removed for a concrete replacement, and the installation of new lighting columns and improved drainage.

Transport minister, Chris Mole, said: ‘This essential safety improvement scheme on the M62 in West Yorkshire is just one example of where this money is helping make journeys safer and more reliable for road-users, in the longer term.’
