£11.5M replacement plan for Rochdale bus station

Up to £10M of government support will be provided for a new £11.5M bus station in Rochdale, transport minister, Rosie Winterton, has announced.

The bus station was developed by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive and Rochdale Council. ‘This scheme will help make public transport a more attractive option for those living and working in Rochdale. It will also fit in with regeneration plans for the town centre,’ Winterton said.

‘The updated interchange will mean passengers get better information about the timing of their services, as well as a vastly improved and more comfortable environment in which to wait for them.’ The scheme will replace Rochdale’s bus station which is limited in terms of public facilities. The new interchange will be built on a nearby brownfield site. It will have facilities for passengers, including CCTV and real-time information.
