£100m to divert waste

 
The Essex waste disposal partnership has been awarded £100.9m in private-finance initiative credits, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has announced.

The Essex CC and Southend-on-Sea BC project aims to divert an additional 185,000t of biodegradable municipal waste from landfill every year from 2020.

The partnership has also committed to a long-term recycling rate of at least 57% by 2020.
